Ode to Pain Reprocessing Therapy

Just trying to write a silly poem, yet summarize the essence of Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT): 1) Learning to feel safe in your body; and 2) Shifting focus away from symptoms and back to living your life!

Turns out it’s psychological

And the cycle’s logical

Mental tension felt in body

Theory’s really not too shoddy!

Fear begets pain

Driving us insane

Pain fuels fear

The fire grows near

What would we incite?

Desperate not to ignite

The constant fight or flight

Preoccupation day and night

Doctors have told us:

“The problem is structural!”

And alternative healers

Haven’t been too instructional

But neuroscientists

As we have learned

Have scoured the mind

Leaving no stone unturned

The trick it seems

Is simple but not easy

The lessons gleaned

Are starting to appease me

Top to bottom

And bottom to top

If you feel safe

The pain will stop

So when your mind starts racing

And you start to doubt

All that you need

Is to chill out!
